Review - Lego 8684 Minifigure Series 2

The second edition of sixteen collectible minifigures continued the traditions of the first, by introducing new minifigure roles to LEGO and upgrading some classic ones.

Series 2 was packaged in blind, blue polybags but again featured a barcode system that inadvertently helped collectors to identify the contents before buying - the product was too close to completion for LEGO to be able to alter it. Each polybag contained the minifigure, a selection of accessories, the distinctive black display stand, and a paper checklist.

Here's the mystery bags from Lego Minifigures series 2:
Here's the Lego official advertise picture:

Same as the previous series, series 2 was packaged in mystery bags. Here's the closer look from each minifigures from series 2.

1. Pharaoh
“That spot looks just right for a pyramid!”
Pharaoh Minifigure. The head prop detail is awesome, it's  kinda
pharaoh hat and has a pharaoh staff.

2. Explorer

“By Jove, I do believe I’ve found something new!”
The Explorer minifigure. This minifigure reminds me of Indiana Jones
Father. The coolest thing from this minifigures is the real magnifying
glass that really works! Lego has cool detail for this, I admit it.

3. Karate Master
“Whatever it is, I can chop it in half!”
Karate Master minifigure. This sensei is coming with karate robe and
a minifigure trophy. Cool detail on the trophy.
4. Lifeguard
“Just yell ‘help’ and I’m on my way!”
Lifeguard Girl minifigure. At the moment this minifigure reminds me
of Pamela Anderson from baywatch. Why should she has a blonde hair anyway?
But overall I like this minfigure.

5. Maraca Man
“Hear the music of the maracas!”
Maraca man minifigure. This unique minfigure is one of my favourite from
series 2. I thought he will carrying a guns and being a mexican bandit.
The mexican robes detail is amazing, it made by real garment or some
kinda paper.

6. Mime
 ”
Mime mnifigure. I love this minifigure. By just looking at him,
I can tell you that he's a mime. It coming with 3 heads, you could
switch them all. A smiley face, sad face, and shocked face.
7. Traffic Cop
“Mine are the safest streets in town!”
Traffic cop minifigure. "papers?" "scissors! I WIN!". Yeah, he is a traffic cop.
This minifigure coming with a handcuff and a fine paper.

8. Pop Star
“This one goes out to all my fans!”
Pop Star minifigure. It coming with a tiny microphone.
The detail is quite usual as the other, just standard I think.

9. Ringmaster
“Ladies, gentlemen and children of all ages, you will not believe your eyes!”
Ringmaster minifigure. Well, I admit it for the first sight it's quite
unique minifigure, it coming with whiplash and a hat. Ready for
controlling the lion inside the cage. Cool.

10. Skier
“I’m going to make it this time!”
Skier minifigure. I like the beanie hat and the ski stick. Actually it coming
with the snowboard, but I cant attach it to baseplate. So, I decided to
save it.

11. Spartan Warrior
“For Sparta!”
Spartan Warrior minifigure. This is the star of series 2 . The most
valuable minifgure around the other series 2 minifigure. I really like the
war suit, the spear, and the helmet. It's gonna most wanted minifigure
someday.

12. Surfer
“G’day, dudes and dudettes!”
Sufer minifigure. Cool bare chest and six pack body. I heard this minifigure
is one of most wanted item around the collector. It has blonde hair, cool detail.

13. Vampire
“I’m supposed to drink WHAT?!”
A vampire minifigure. Pale skin, red eyes, bat, and a long tunic.
The vampire tunic is stunning, because the detail is very good.
The little bat he's carrying is little bit toyish.

14. Weightlifter
“299…300…301…”
Weightlifter minifigure. This minifigure coming with  the weight plates.
The expression of this minifigure are trying to lift the plates.

15. Witch
“Am I a good witch or a bad witch?”
Witch minfigure. It's quite unique to having minfigures without
the usual feet. Because this minifigures wearing a skirt so there is
no usual foot like the other minfigure. Green skins, broom stick, and
other witch craft. What a witch.

16. Disco Dude
“Hey, everybody! Let’s Disco!”
Disco dude minifigure. I must admit, I love minifigure
with afro hair. The detail of the afro is awesom, it has
wobbly effect.
This series 2 are packing in a blind box toy pack. I've bought all of minfigures from series 2 from my trusted online-store at October 2010. At the time, the price is IDR 25.000 / minifigs. So, one set of 16 minifigures cost you: 16 pieces x IDR 25.000 = IDR 400.000. It's quite affordable, seeing the high price right now. Now, November 2011 the price are  IDR 75.000. So, one set of complete minifigures cost you IDR 1.200.000.

In one box contains 60 mystery bags. Here's the minifigure classification according to its rarity :
Commons (5 minifigs per box)
  • Ringmaster
  • Karate Master
  • Traffic Cop
